Meet the Crew

Katrina Volkert, Owner. Katrina transplanted herself and her family to Winona in December of 2001. Her husband Chuck, two boys, Bryan (22) and Adam (19), Baxter (the dog) and Bianca (the cat) are very supportive, and help to keep her sane! She gets to work the store every day and loves every minute of it (which is good, cause there are LOTS of minutes in a day.) She is around to help you with your scrapbook issues, loves to help pick out pages and is a scrapbook and card making fanatic herself.

Chuck Volkert, Owner. Chuck supports Katrina in the efforts of the store.  This is truly a family affair!  Chuck’s main job is to keep Katrina from going off half cocked — and trust me, that’s no easy job.  Thank goodness for Chuck!

Bryan Volkert, Staff. Bryan, who feels a little out of his element here sometimes, began working at SH in March of 2006.  Although not much of a scrapper himself, he has a great eye and is extremely helpful when working on your projects.  Just goes to show that sometimes you don’t have to DO something in order to HELP someone else!  Bryan lives at home with his Mom & Dad, works at Sprint and dates a very nice girl.

Christy Ferrington, Staff.  Christy joined the SH team in May of 2006, even after having to call in with a family emergency on her FIRST day of work!  Christy moved to Winona in 1997 to pursue her social work degree and never left.  She now lives in town with her husband, Jeremy and their son Isaac.  Christy started scrapping because of her need for organization and her habit (inherited from her father) of being a picture taking fanatic.  An avid scrapper, she is a very important part of the team here at Scrapper’s Haven.

Ruth Korder, Staff & Teacher.  Ruth, who is possibly the best note taker I have ever encountered, joined the team in August of 2006.  The secretary at Cathedral for more years than she likes to talk about, she is a very inspiring retired person, being our Photoshop Elements guru, as well as on staff!  She lives in town with her husband Gene, and keeps herself busy with her children, their spouses, a bunch of Grandkids, scrapping, photography and lots of other hobbies. Ruth is really my right hand, and there’s no way I could run this store without her!

Megan Mill, Staff. Megan, who came to us in March of 2007, has been a long time customer and supporter of the store.  She is ready to be out of the house a little!  Originally from Rochester, Megan now lives in Lewiston with her husband Jason and their 4 children (18 months to 8 years)… now you know why she wants to work here!  Megan goes to school at WSU in her spare time, so though I don’t get to see her nearly as much as I’d like, she is a HUGE asset to our team!  She also heads up our Design Team, which is a very good use of her fabulous creativity!

Adam Volkert, Staff. Joining our team July of 2007, Adam is the youngest son of owners Katrina & Chuck.  He has always been the "artsy" son, doing legos, modeling, painting, drawing, singing, acting and anything else creative that strikes his fancy.  Like his mom, he generally teaches himself in his various pursuits!  He is just beginning to paper craft, but has a fantastic eye for color and design, so we are very excited to have him!  Adam will be completing his senior year of high school this fall at Riverway, has plans to apprentiship in Iowa on a sustainable gardening farm, and is very active for the Winona community.

Maggie Mueller, Staff. Joining our team June of 2008, Maggie also works very hard at Flowers on Broadway.

Morgen Koenig, Staff. New to our team, October 2008, Morgen is a student at WSU.
